Hieroglyphs and other clip art

There are lots of sites where you can download Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and other clip art. But before you visit any of them do learn how to save just the images you need.

How you do this depends on what browser you are using. If you do not know what a browser is, or which one you are using, this is probably because you are using the one which came with your computer, which will usually be Internet Explorer. To save a picture in Internet Explorer right-click on it. This brings up a menu allowing you to save just that picture. (You can do the same with text, by highlighting just the portion of text you want to save.)

It is normally considered polite to say where you got the pictures from, ideally by giving the URL - this is the bit beginning www.

One of the best sites for Ancient Egyptian Clip Art (Gods, hieroglyphs and lots more) is at www.neferchichi.com and is well worth book-marking. Most of the buttons, backgrounds etc in my web site came from here!

Fun with hieroglyphs

Lots of books and web sites contain an English/Egyptian alphabet translator, with a hieroglyph for each letter of the English alphabet, including L for which there was no sound in Ancient Egyptian, and the vowels A, E, I, O and U which the Ancient Egyptians did not write. Using this sort of alphabet to write your name is a lot of fun but please do not think you are writing in hieroglyph.
